Ex: my ex would never let me go out because he wanted to stay home and do nothing.

Dont focus on making yourself look better in comparison by talking about how adventerous you are, she expects that, right off the bat the issue is not getting out. Take that and separate the exbf.

Ex: Have you ever wanted to go to [noun]? Ive been thinking about how [adjective] it would be.

Just try not to acknowledge that shes talking about her experiences with other guys, and focus on bringing out more info that was otherwise repressed. Potential is key, make her imagine possibilities.

When they start talking about their ex I usually interrupt and say something like "why are we talking about sad stuff?! We were just talking about fun happy stuff! Come on rainbows and unicorns! Don't be a downer on me!!" I just have fun and make a joke out of it, usually puts the convo back on track. That and I don't really care about their ex, I'm here NOW that's where their focus should be on you and the current interaction. Don't let them project those negative emotions onto your interaction it will screw it up.

Lol I talk about her exes on the first date. It's a great way to position yourself as not the ex (there's a reason why they broke up), as well as a great way to segue into sex talk.
