I think it's more that you should focus on YOU getting a fun experience, not for her. You're not her personal clown. You should be trying to have fun all the time, and those happy vibes that you give will eventually make her happy too, but that should not be your goal

TLDR;

One of the biggest mistakes guys make with girls is that they START TAKING THINGS TOO SERIOUSLY, whether in the initial approach or later on down the line
Instead, just focus on giving her a fun experience.
Instead of being all logical and serious, REMEMBER that at the end of the day, you're there to have fun with a girl. Joke around with her. Tease her. Keep it light and positive. ALWAYS try to genuinely have a good time with her.
You dont HAVE to tell a girl how much you like her when you first meet. She'll ALREADY know you're interested. Women intuitively know these things, its common sense for them
By doing this, you're appealing to her EMOTIONS, and she'll learn to associate those fun feelings WITH YOU.
In order to have this carefree, non-serious attitude that women love so much, you have to learn how to respond to whatever she says with a light-hearted, non serious attitude.
By light hearted attitude, I mean that you must have an attitude that shows her that you're not fazed or bothered by whatever she says. Here's an example: If she's giving you a test like “wow you must be a player, I could tell”. You might respond with “Yeah, maybe, maybe not. Why? Are you interested in me? Wow! you're so flirty..” while keeping a smile on your face.
The best way to develop the skill of not taking things too seriously, is by practicing it everyday with strangers. You should be friendly, and light hearted to EVERYONE, wherever you go.
So have fun with women you come across on an everyday basis: waitresses, cashiers, bartenders. Joke with them, tease them. Once you build these skills, you'll undo that bad habit of always taking things too seriously, and you'll see how easy it is and how open most women generally are.

I'm carefree but quiet and low-energy. Should I abandon the carefree and try to be energetic for the approach?

I'm like a quiet joker. I don't laugh or smile, yet I am funny, interesting, and creative. In classes that people knew this, I was the center of attention a lot of the time. Even the popular jock types watched quietly. In other classes, I was invisible. I mean, maybe I was the center of attention for being weird, I don't follow norms for anything so I am very original and make original observations and jokes. It could be a breathe of fresh air for people, but I was still a weirdo outcast. And that's no different now than it was. I'm an unsmiling, unlaughing, yet carefree strange man. I am fun, but a creep and a weirdo and a loner.

I actually had to Google the other day "How to not be so serious all the time" I was in Amsterdam and had a few minutes of rest between activities and found myself just scowling for some reason. Thought back and realized I'd not laughed or joked around with my friends all day. IDK why I was being so serious, but I was and I had to rectify it. I think it helped, I definitely loosened up, the weed, beer and...other things, certainly helped me ;)
