A great way I'd like to start a conversation (especially with someone I know) is by giving them a compliment. I do this with guys as well as a means to build rapport, but it's especially fun when you're doing it with a girl. This is a good use of a situational opener, and it offers value and gives validation to the girl. It gets people's guards down and gives off a fun approachable vibe. Just keep the compliments short-and-sweet. Very casual like you didn't give it much thought, yet still genuine. (example: looking good today! lovely shoes!)

The "fun" in this game is when you give a compliment to a girl, they'd usually say "thanks!", followed by either one of these responses:

  1. They give a compliment back. In that case, you reward them with a hug or a pat on the shoulder (kino). Exaggerate and sarcastically say "aww how sweet of you!" as if you totally didn't expect her to give you a compliment.

  2. They don't give a compliment back. In that case, you imitate with your hands the act of winding a fishing pole. She either gets the signal (fishing for compliments), and gives you a compliment. If she doesn't get the signal, you could jokingly neg "geez, where are your manners! When someone gives you a compliment, you should give one back!" -- this will now be an in-joke you have with her!

I find that this works extremely well, especially if you have solid inner game -- that way it could act not only as a compliance test (getting her into your frame), but also gives opportunities to kino the girl, and gives off a fun vibe. Not only that, but in the future, every time you'd meet her she'd instinctively find something to compliment you on (i.e. making her invest and making her check you out!). If you're from the same social circle, the act of her giving you a compliment would also increase your social proof!

It's worth mentioning that this is ALL dependent on the way you say it. The frame you have set up. It's against this some PUA's advice to give a compliment if you're expecting one in return -- as it's not genuine. But the trick here is that you're not really seeking approval or validation from the girl, but rather, you're offering value, inviting the girl into your frame, giving off a fun approachable vibe, and making her invest -- ultimately building attraction.
