That being said calling can be smoother for discussing the logistics of a date. Not always, but sometimes it can. To defuse the awkwardness that might come up, I'll joke joke about how absurd it is to call in 2015 or something like that. " (joke) (laughter).. But anyways I thought we had a good vibe/spark, we should hang out this weekend, what do you think?" "yeah/sure" "Lets do..." ... Then after that I'll just over time solidify it via text. Carefully turn up the sexual nature of the texting. This way the yes can become a more definite yes and the date can have an intimate vibe straight away. And a maybe answer can be shifted to a yes because you turn her on.

Texting is best used for simple communication, like next day letting her know you had a good time. Calling I avoid because I think it's weird and awkward unless you know somebody super well but it can be good for setting up dates. And remember, there not really a such thing as texting game. Anything you want to ask her/talk about should be saved for when you see her. An what's alpha doesn't matter. She's not looking for a guy who's alpha she's looking for a guy that is confident and that she can be comfortable around. Trying to be alpha is not a super helpful mindset.

I use texting as a means of letting the girl know that I'm a cool dude, and that I have their best interest in mind. But I have had a lot of succes with texting a girl something along the lines of "Heads up! You're gonna receive a call from me at about 8:30, to talk about [that thing you texted about/talked about when you first met/that topic you disagree on]"
This one have worked like a charm in the past, because it removes a lot of the pressure of calling her. If you just call her out of nowhere, girls today will become distressed because it's not a situation they usually have to deal with. If you tell them you're going to call, then they have time to prepare mentally. Furthermore, you have given her the chance of saying no to your call, in which case you should be a little persistent about the call, but make it out to not be a big deal (If she is firm in her no then don't push it too much. Just text her). And lastly, it'll get her thinking about you until the time you've said that you're gonna call, which is a very good thing when you then call her and have an awesome conversation!
