Can you describe the context? An "I hate you" in a playful context is an IOI.

One of the things which improved my life the most was a girl who told me I was an asshole. I hadn't realized that, I thought I was a cool guy but, in fact I wasn't. I needed somebody to tell me that and explain me why, because we don't see ourselves the same way as other people see us. In my case, I was an annoying nerd who always talked to others as if they were inferior. I fixed that.

Afterwards, with her help and other people's (and Seddit, books, etc) I think I'm a relatively cool guy, I make friends easily, I keep them, and people in general want to talk to me. So if she's serious ASK HER WHY. We don't want to be assholes but sometimes we are, and we can fix that.

She probably wants to fuck you but feels like you won't take her so she made up this story of "you're an asshole" to keep her inferiority complex at bay.
