I've lurked here for a while, and something that I felt was a grey area was addressing legitimate criticisms from other people.

In a way I suppose this isn't just a /r/seduction problem but I do feel that it is connected in a way.

So one of the mantras this community has is not to derive happiness from other people, and not to cave into other people's demands (especially women).

However, what am I supposed to do when faced with something that is actually a recurring concern brought up by numerous people?

For example, I ate dinner with two female friends and one of the critiques they had for me was that I "look angry when I'm eating my food" and that I "eat like a ogre/horse."

I use to have (and may still have) problems chewing with my mouth closed, but I thought that I had this locked down. The part where "I look angry when I eat" bothers me though because I have gotten this from people who aren't women.

If I were to submit this post right now, I guarantee that one of the answers down here would be to the effect of: "Don't worry about what people think about you," but is that truly the correct advice to give? If you're looking to be a high value person, you certainly have to address the social problems, whether it is a hygiene issue or a speech impediment. I think the only way to deal with "my angry way of eating" is to raise my eyebrows while I am chewing (they have told me that I look angry when I look down). But if they were to never tell me this, just casually note it in their minds, I would go my entire life without knowing that I looked like I could shoot the next person walking past our table.

Before this turns into a full out rant, I will mention that I "agreed and amplified" the situation, and playfully joked with them. But when they mentioned it again when we went back to my dorm, it really started to bother me because I don't want this to be the type of thing where if I ignore this it gets mentioned again and again and again...

TL;DR: How do I deal with legitimate critiques from other people? Where is the line between "Don't give a fuck about what they say" and "This habit that I have is actually pretty nasty, I should fix it."?
