Icelandic is closer to English than you think man. So you should be golden allmost all the time speaking it. fb in my expirence removes a lot of the accountability, so the quicker you get their number to start calling/texting to set up dates is going to bring you much greater success. But that is after all, just in my expirence, as I've never lived in Iceland I can't say how it all plays out but I'd be inclined to believe the psychology of it remains somewhat the same.

Facebook is a good material for picking up chicks, my advice to you is don't go ahead and add them, everybody does that, and most girls wont even look at your timeline due to that.
Set specific targets and message them flirty indicating messages, be sure that not everyone will answer you but the ones who will are down.
Also, remember that for the girl you're just a picture talking so as long as you don't skype (Or any video chatting) with them you can't get them to be interested.
