Verbal Game: How do I improve?

TL;DR Listening intently can be more beneficial than learning how to please others/meet their needs. But also, listening intently helps build those skills over time.

I think I was better with the jabs/banter/ribbing when I was younger, while I hung out with a bunch of assholes. Today I don't hang out with assholes much, if at all, so I'm not as well-versed in that shit. Google/wikipedia can give you some info for conversation on any topic, but where to start is completely wide open.

This is my first post in r/Seduction, so I'll assuming you want some female adornment as a result of your efforts here. Different women want different things and the more you shoot the shit with people and have intellectual conversations, the better at both you'll get. Not all women are sapiosexual or appreciate witty banter and sarcasm though. Literally the range is all over the place.

I find it more useful for myself to listen to what isn't being said by women, but to hear the story that lies underneath. Is she talking about herself a lot? Maybe she needs to feel desired/appreciated/seen/equal. Are there common themes with everything (or most of what) she's saying? What's that theme?

I'm getting my masters in psychotherapy so I've been trained and encouraged to listen for this "unspoken story", but I'm certainly not saying it's some magical formula. It works with anyone and in different degrees. I met a guy yesterday who made several comments about his wife "not deserving" a christmas present. After I pointed this out, we had a long conversation about his needs from marriage and how they weren't being met. We scheduled him for a therapy session this coming week. I'm not trying to get in his pants (or his wallet)-my point is that truly listening to someone is a win-win situation. I learn more about them and can find plenty of conversation topics, and they are seen by another (who happens to be a good listener).

Thoughts anyone?

Take improv classes.

Read a comedy writing book.

Download the free PU101 Banter deck (hello google) and use some of them.

Approach many sets, often.

I don't consider myself a good talker or let alone with girls, but in my experience, I learned if you actually put effort in the conversation and listen ( not wait to talk) the convo rolls smoothly. What im trying to to say is that if your afraid of awkwardness or getting ignored, youre not gonna get better. Well at least in my case. These times i just talk about anything. I know thats horrible advice but just talk about whatever you want. That being about video games or what your major is. As you said watching improv or stand up comedy does help, but being funny comes naturally and everyone knows girls love funny guys. But i digress. Iv run out of conversations many times. Iv had girls just straight up ignore me. But f it man you learn from it. Like i said this is probably terrible advice lol but its my experience. If you have any specific questions ask.

For me it was reading. Read a lot and in many subjects that you find interesting. Always be learning, and you'll have interesting things to talk about.

Just do what RSD Luke talks about. Perpetual Persistence. Approach as many people as you can and force yourself to stay in the conversation and burn it too the ground. Watch his video about it. Everything else mentioned works as well.
