So I'm relatively newish here and I've started to work on some of the beginner areas here.

I've recently been asking out women that are currently in my life, through work, classes, etc. I'm sitting around 15 people so far in about a month in a half. All nos, takens, love to but takens. So I usually just play it off confidently and move on to the next person I meet.

Well I recently was told by my older male figures (I'm early 20s, so I look up to people like my father, 30s and 40s males) that I'm probably just not pursing people enough, and that this whole preventing oneitis I'm taking a little too far.

I get the whole oneitis sort of idea, so I figure, hey, why not might as well move on to the next one. But there are a few girls that stick out. I keep telling myself, don't stick on them, just move on, but a lot of these successful males in my life are saying that I should pursue even after a no and that I'm not really showing interest if I just move on to the next (even if the female is in a relationship).

How should a person pursue, call it quits, how many tries to get someone to see you as a potential date. (Also if someone has experience in pursuing a female that is in a rocky/brand new relationship, it would be nice to hear if you should, shouldn't etc since I'm of the opinion that your shouldn't, but other have said that you should)

Am I taking the preventing oneitis too far?

EDIT: I should note that I'm looking for relationships, not hook-ups/one night stands
