I'm only 18, so I don't spend my weekends trying to pick up women in bars (and it's a long drive to the nearest city anyway). However, I've spent a while observing this thread and I accidentally stumbled on a good way to deal with other guys if they're trying to compete with you for the attentions of a random girl. For reference, I'm not a pickup artist myself. My ex-girlfriend (high school fling) calls me up to see if I want to sneak into a pool with her and a few of her friends. One of them I already know, and he's a good guy. Has major hots for my ex. The other one is a military brat type, very creepy fellow, the very definition of the infamous "Nice Guy." This entitled little prick begins to hit on my ex as soon as we get there, very sexual and breaking a lot of boundaries without bothering to even talk to her or even see if she's interested. So i decide on impulse to just ruin his night and hook up with my ex. As she's emotionally insecure as hell and kind of an attention whore (which is why I broke up with her), this was stupid. The Orbiter immediately got pissed when I suddenly pretended to propose to my ex (it's an inside joke between us that we pretend as if we're married. Not romantic in the slightest). It literally devolved into him literally trying to drag her away from me as I kept her away from him. It was kind of immature, admittedly. Afterwards we go get some frozen yogurt, the guy I know leaves, leaving me, my ex and the Orbiter. The Orbiter literally tries to seduce her in front of me, trying to go in for the kiss repeatedly and being rebuffed each time. When he got to the point where he literally forced her to kiss him, I snapped. I burst out into hysterical laughter, said "I can't watch this shit anymore. You're going about this all wrong. Haven't you ever been with a woman?" I'm a virgin myself but I don't give a crap, I'll lose it when I feel like it. So is this guy apparently, since he snaps back with "Oh yeah? How would YOU do it?" I said, "simple." I softly took my ex's face in my hands, turned to her and said, "Would you like to kiss me?" She blushed, and I turned to him and said, "If she says yes, go for it. If she says maybe, go for it but not as fast. And if she says no..." I leaned over towards her 90% of the way (I kinda stole that tactic from the movie "Hitch"), and just as she leaned back I moved away and said, "Your loss." Like I said, I'm not some sort of sexual superhero, I just took control of the situation. A poor bastard trying to unsuccessfully hit on a girl is your friend. And I'm only of average looks anyway, so I'm nothing to call home about. He fumes and eventually gets so pissed that he leaves, but not before forcing her to kiss him while he thought I wasn't looking. Another hysterical outburst from me stopped that harassment from continuing. I did things differently. When I went in for the kiss soon after he left, I simply announced that I was going to kiss her and that if she didn't want to herself, this was her only opportunity to back out. We ended up making out on the back of her car. Afterwards, she told me firmly that we weren't doing anything else. That was perfectly acceptable to me, I don't want to do anything sexually unless the girl wants to as well. I still feel kind of bad that I made out with a girl my friend liked. It helped that she was my ex. But point being, I'm sharing the story because it just seems like a great way to get a girl's attention. It worked like clockwork for me, so it should work even better for you guys. Hope you enjoyed it. And remember that the two most important words here are "enthusiastic consent."
