Warning: Small(?) Wall of Text

A little background information: I'm an above average quite attractive guy. I would probably rate myself with a high 7. In parties, I'm the type of guy who dances occasionally simply for the desire to grind. (Note: I live in Central America and what people mostly dance is called Bachata and Reguetón) Reguetón involes heavy grinding and it's pretty meh. I do it for fun and because I want to please my sexual desires in some minor way. I have never hit on girls randomly at parties; just the ocasional talk that lasts less than 5 minutes. Anyway, I would usually just go to a dark corner with my (now ex)-girlfriend. I was okay with this.

Anyway, here's the story. We broke up a few months ago and I've been trying to hit on girls more often. Two nights ago, four friends and I went to two parties.

In the first one, my plan was to simply drink my ass off until the next party, which was a few hours later, mostly because my underage cousin wasn't allowed in. So here's the thing; when I go to the bartender to get drinks, a girl beside me who ordered some drinks as well for her friends randomly talked to me. I would give her an 8/10. She started the conversation by mentioning that she noticed that the guards told me change before going into the bar. (I was wearing short jeans cause I liked how I looked with them and apparently you can't wear that if you want to go into this bar.) So the first thing I thought was, "Damn, she was probably checking me out and still is." I kind of pussied out and simply kept the conversation small, for about 3 minutes. I left with the drinks. Afterwards, the 3rd time I ordered drinks, she's beside me again. She smiles and tells me, "Hey, we're gonna dance later right?" I respond with a "Yeah, of course." trying to act cool and giving her a smile. For 30 minutes I simply kept drinking while my friends were telling me to go take her to the dancefloor. I pussied out and eventually we left for the next party.

In my mind: I was a fucking pussy and I should have done it. As an excuse, I told myself that she was always with her friends and that she was older than me. I have no experience with older ones.

So, on to the next party we go. I was kind of drunk so the first girl I danced with just left after a song cause I was being stupid as fuck. No big deal, I felt no attraction towards her so I didn't really care. A few minutes later, I'm more sober and I take another girl out to dance. We dance for a while, and after some dancing I gently kiss her cheeks while her back is facing me during the song. She was a 4 so I'm like, fuck it I'll just go for it. So I whisper to her ear, "What would happen if I kissed you?" He first reaction is like, umm I don't know. So a few times I tried to go for it and she said no. After one song I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't get shit from her, so I moved on.

Now I'm dancing with another girl. In my eyes she's a 6 and was WAY more fun than the previous one. I do the same thing again, ask her what would happen if I kissed her. She reacts differently. She giggled and said, "Umm I don't really know." I felt like she simply said it to not sound like a whore. We only danced for one song, because she got tired and left with the girl from above. Afterwards I had to leave but I kept feeling that if I had spent a bit more time with her I would've gotten a kiss at least.

TLDR: 1st Party: Older girl (8/10) kept giving me hints but I pussied out because I have no experience with older ones. 2nd Party: A girl (4/10) wouldn't let me go for the kiss. Another one (6/10) didn't let me go for it right away but I'm sure I could've gotten it if I had more time.

So, sedddit, can you guys tell me what I did wrong? I also need tips on being more confident with older girls.
