Acting apathetic is usually a defense mechanism to protect yourself from getting hurt. If you're apathetic about getting girls then you will never get rejected, therefore you will never get hurt. Another part of it is probably the fact you take yourself too seriously or act cool around girls. You're "doing nothing" because you try to minimize the chances of fuck ups or embarrassing yourself. Unfortunately having a 0%chance of fuck up means having a 0% chance of getting the girls. What you need to do is put yourself out there. You know what that means? It means to go out and actually have a chance of getting hurt. You're self concious, afraid of judgement, so you don't do anything to not get hurt if you get rejected. Only solution is to put yourself out there. Show your true personality... Not 100% of girls would like you but you will find the ones who will if you show them. It is a confidence problem... your brain is making excuses.
