I just saw a girl on the underground. She was reading André Gide, in french. I don't live in a francophone country, and I'm an avid reader with a thing for surrealism, so needless to say I was fascinated. Hesitated for a couple of minutes about going to talk to her, and ask her for her number, when I walked there I just mumbled stuff like "well, you like Gide, I like surrealism, I like you, idk, I want your number, etc.". She politely declined. It's very likely that I won't see her again. If my skills had been sharp I'd gotten that number, or at least I wouldn't have looked like an idiot.
Why practice this shit? So this doesn't happen to you. Trust me: don't do it for her. do it for the next one. One day a girl you like a lot will walk by, and if your skills are not sharp you will look like a fool, or you won't be able to talk to her, and you will regret it. So start practicing, don't overthink it, just practice. Eventually you'll get good enough.
