Cold approach is interesting - you have some men having loads of dates and adventures. And then you have others getting barely anything (vast majority).
Here's my take on it.
In cold approach the biggest leverage point you have is your confidence, charisma, flirting - let’s call this ‘dating social skills’. Other factors are at play but this is the biggest factor.
If we would take the population of men and rate their dating social skills, it would be similar to a bell curve or normal distribution. Let’s say we would have 10% of men with poor dating social skills, 80% with average, and 10% with exceptional.
Now this is the interesting part - dating social skills are important in different ways of dating (online, work) but more so in cold approach. Why?
Lets use analogy of a business.
In business you have inbound and outbound leads. Inbound leads are that come to you - register on website, fill out a form, sign up for a webinar… basically they have showed some interest.
Outbound leads however - you are reaching out to them pure cold, they have shown no interest neither in your product or buying in general.
So to close an outbound lead it’s much harder than an inbound lead (in general) because an inbound already showed some interest and is already further in the funnel. So your sales skills have to be higher.
Now lets take this analogy back to dating.
In online dating, if a girl is on an app, she’s already showed some interest at least 'in buying' (since she's browsing potential men). And if she matches with you, then you already have some head start. And even if you’re sort of boring - she might give you a shot.
In cold approach (especially daytime), a girl is just walking down a street and has shown no interest in dating or you personally whatsoever. So if you come up to her with average dating social skills - she’s going to reject you, often immediately.
[this also happens in outbound sales, if you send bad emails or make terrible cold calls, they will just tell you 'not interested' and drop the phone. While inbound leads will at listen to your sales pitch, even if it's bad]
This is why a lot of men can get some dates in online dating but if you tell them to cold approach, most fail miserably and look like deer in the headlights.
Does this mean cold approach doesn’t work?
No, but it’s harder to make it work because you need exceptional dating social skills.
If you have average dating social skills - you can 'get by' online but not in cold approach.
However, if you can get your dating social skills in top 5% of men - you get asymmetrical results.
For example, in the last 12 months I have dated 100+ fantastic women all whom I met during daytime cold approach.
Many were not looking to date necessarily but they met me and said - why not? Also many said that lots of ‘creepy guys’ had approached them on the street before - which usually just means men with poor/average dating social skills in an uncalibrated way.
I approached them in the same context but with better dating social skills - and hence results were different.
So if you are not getting results from cold approach yet, know that you just need to work harder and longer on your dating social skills (confidence, charisma, flirting).
It's harder but let me tell you - the juice is worth the squeeze ;)
