With people in places you frequent (like your job and school), I would usually try to establish a flirty vibe, and at least some decent comfort (more than a few conversations worth) before making a move, because if they say no, unlike in cold approach, you’ll have to deal with the awkwardness for the rest of your time there.

Of course if you want to ask her out anyway, you want to make the request seem as casual as possible.
