I have an uncontested divorce in California that's been pending since December 2020 when I moved out of the state. I hired a law firm to file the paperwork and just take care of any small hiccups that might occur. They took my retainer and ran, it seems, so I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I don't have a lot of money so I'd prefer not to get another lawyer where I'm at and calling the lawyers to get status updates hasn't turned up anything. I just need some advice because I have half a mind to drive down there and tell them off to their face for wasting another year of my life dealing with my ex. Is there anyway to get my money back or at least light a fire under their asses?
