Beloved sisters, I decided to share some of my personal tips regarding insecurities with you. I am a person, who is pretty strong-minded by default, so I ignored my insecurities most of my life just out of spite. Since alot of my female friends talk about their insecurities lately, I thought that I could share my advice with all of you aswell. For some it might be helpful, for some it isn't, but in every case I have alot of love for all of you and just want everyone here to level up and see your real worth!
1.Don't compare
It sounds hard. We are women, obviously we compare ourselves to each other so much.
"Oh she is beautiful, I am not as pretty as she is.." ; "She's SO skinny, I look like a fat slob next to her.." ; "Her family is absolutely lovely.. why can't I get a husband like she has?!"
Comparing yourself to other women does you no good. You either put down another woman for being worse off than you (even if you don't mean it or don't try to be hateful) or you put YOURSELF down for being seemingly worse than another woman. Either way, you're never benefitting from this.
What can and should you do instead? Appreciate other people for their good qualities. Another woman looks beautiful? Yes, she definitely does, but it doesn't mean that she is in any way better or worse than you. You're in your own league, you have your own life. Her being beautiful, rich, skinny or whatever doesn't mean that you are not as good. Just look at all the different Hollywood actresses, models, even IG models or women who are called "beautiful" by society. They don't have the same face, many have a special looking nose or special looking eyes, that just fit them so well and make them stay in your mind for longer. You look different. Not worse, not better. Never forget that!
2. Hobbies are a good thing
Being occupied with something is always good, either to forget about certain situations or to calm your mind down and unlearn behavior that is harmful to you. Also learning new things or getting better at something does give you a huge self-esteem boost.
The most important thing, is once again, don't compare when doing a hobby. Some people are gifted by nature to do certain things. While improving can encourage you, looking at other people improving faster and better can discourage you the same way. This is why it's important to be thankful for YOUR OWN pace. Track your own success and if you're struggling with less insecurities, get some motivation from other people. Once again: appreciate their skills, but don't put yourself down for that, don't compare.
3. Take your time
Unlearning harmful behavior does take alot of time. Make sure, that you have things to remind yourself right at your side. If you're especially good at something, look at what you're good at. Think about how hard you've worked to be where you are. If you met a person, who was like you, would you disrespect this person? Why put yourself down?
Obviously there is failure and you will have negative thoughts. It's not realistic to think that you can unlearn your insecurities in a week. It takes years, if not decades. You are NOT a failure, as long as you get back up and try again. Even if it's a thousand times.
4. Will it matter in 20 years?
This is something I personally had to learn, especially with weight being involved. Will my weight now matter in 20 years? Will the opinion of some stranger online matter in 20 years? Or will I probably have forgotten about it either way? This is why I block negative people out of my life. Because if they won't matter in 20 years, why should I waste another minute of my life NOW on them? Same goes for negative thoughts and insecurities. This worked well for me, personally.
5. Be supportive of others
Having support is important, but being supportive of others is just as important. Not only do you get more positivity into your life, you also help another person to feel good about themselves and it can mean alot. Just imagine another woman telling you how well you dress, you immediately have a nice day because of it and in your mind you see this woman as a nice person. The same goes for other people. If you compliment something you really like (and that's really important, don't make fake compliments, people feel it) about another person, they immediately have a more positive opinion about you, that helps you to have a better opinion about yourself.
Also try to be a bit distant to people who don't support what you do. Out of personal experience, concentrating on people who approve of what you do will help you grow and get better.
6. Get to know yourself
What do you like doing? What do you dislike? What are you good at? What could you improve? Where exactly are your priorities? Getting to know yourself can take time and be hard, especially for people who feel like they have no interests. Everyone has something they like. Think small first. You like to eat? Well, maybe you can be a food critic for certain restaurants in your neighbourhood just for fun then? Or maybe cooking is something you could try? There are always possibilities to find something that you really like. And the more you get to know yourself, the more you can work on yourself. After all you're fabulous and you should know it!
I hope I didn't derail or make too many mistakes, since I am currently sleep-deprived from my baby.
Either way, don't let insecurities ruin your life. You are worth respect and love. Be the first one to give it to yourself!
