The law aspect of it is certainly a large incentive to go MGTOW. Nobody wants to get thrown in jail for unjustified, unethical reasons, and it's more than a little perverse that the most common way for that to happen nowadays is from someone who supposedly "loves" you. You're correct in that Law vs. Solitude reasons aren't mutually exclusive; personally I think they are related in that one comes before the other.

Heterosexual men are naturally attracted to women, and bonding with them has worked for almost the entire history of our species. It's both the biological and social starting point that males are presented with growing up, and in-and-of itself there's nothing wrong with it.

The first stepping point into MGTOW often comes after a relationship blow-up, false accusation, or a divorce. The Disney fairytale disintegrates and the slaughterhouse is revealed. Stories are shared amongst each other and the younger generation, and they see that the supposed benefits of a relationship or marriage simply don't compare well with the risks, and when the risk/reward ratio is off with anything, most rational men will reconsider.

In this stage, a lot of the men would probably go right back to women if society changed its unfair treatment towards men, but a) men's rights is a pipe dream for now and b) a lot of men become accustomed to or grow to prefer their solitude.

I think the longer a man has stayed MGTOW, regardless of the reason, the less likely that they will revert back. What was once a rebuff to the current situation surrounding sex and marriage becomes something more as they look at history and see how society has always been stacked against men, even when men were supposedly "in charge". It's difficult to go back into the darkness once you've seen the light.

Interesting question and I am torn to be honest but the more I read about female nature the more disgusted I become so I'd say that a Law change wouldn't mean anything nor change my opinion or choice of GMOW.

Might be different for others but knowing that a cunt will always be a cunt despite a change of Laws wouldn't make it any better, they'd have to change the nature of women which won't happen any time soon.

I've been with many women, married once, lived with a girlfriend before that. I've never been in jail.

Every long term relationship has had the same pattern, even with women from different backgrounds. From the stereotypical rich girl from Florida to poor religious girl from the wrong side of town. They all put on this wonderful act in the beginning, and once they get their claws in you, they're done working on themselves, expect you to do all the work and earn all the money, etc.

I had wanted a wife that would help me build side businesses so we could travel and live life on our terms. She worked with me on all that before the ring was on. After the ring was on, she literally changed overnight. My friends that knew her said she changed the moment she moved in.

I thought I had vetted her properly, that by discussing all these things in advance that I was covering all the bases and that I had found a unicorn. Nope. Once the ring was on she sat on her ass and did nothing. I brought up our agreements before, and she said she changed her mind or she "forgot" or "that was just silly fantasy".

While I'd love to see the laws change, I'm just not interested in any women that put on airs just to snag a man so she can sit on her ass. So I gave up.

The main thing here is a willingness to assume a risk-to-reward profile in order to pay a cost that hopefully has a benefit. All in the overall hopes that things do not go badly (and do not end badly either).

Winning at those kinds of games of speculation is reserved for people who make the games.

For me it's mostly the second reason. I've always been highly individualistic for various reasons, so the single life appeals to me. I'm also not very emotional and instead oriented strongly towards logic, so I can really only tolerate emotional people for a limited length of time. There were a couple periods of time before learning of MGTOW philosophy when I was very lonely though since I've never even had a relationship, and because I thought it was normal, I thought the solution was finding the so-called 'soulmate'. But what I wanted such an individual to be was basically the kind of individual that simply doesn't exist. The qualities I would've sought - extremely logical, unemotional, and the additional elusive qualities required for such a person to be 'on my same wavelength' of inherently understanding me, I was basically thinking what I wanted was a female version of a like-minded man. Someone that didn't behave within the confines of every other woman I've ever observed the behavior of. I didn't want to settle for anyone less, I wanted to find someone whose intelligence equaled or surpassed my own that had a passion for science and philosophy like me, perhaps even a reflection of myself. Someone to share my life with and be able to draw strength from. Now it's just so obvious. The biological imperative (reproductive instinct) was giving me unrealistic expectations, and to want for someone so similar to myself as to be a reflection was an expression of someone whose ego sought validation where it rarely ever received any. The stronger, better version of myself now is aware of this and time has allowed me to for the most part turn off that need for validation. I'm still seeking like-minded people in life to share experiences with, but I haven't had much luck aside from a few people I've found on the internet whom I am just too distant to to really become friends with. I won't hide that even with my change in mindset the consideration of all of this still frustrates me, but to act as if it is otherwise would be a delusional, foolhardy thing to do in the face of facts.

Wait. Lets clarify something, cuz this shit is tiring - and this really is the only dillineation there needs to be in concerning ourselves with labels or "who is or isnt MGTOW," even though labels and their concerns are besides the point for a man going his own way. Feel free to say "im wrong," or an "asshole," but Being MGTOW due to laws and laws/political/social climate alone ain't MGTOW. That is something else. MGTOW, at least in its current incarnation (far removed from its tiny and short lived retooling of trad-con bullshit/theory that it first was over a decade ago) is far fucking removed from MEN WAITING TO GET MARRIED (MWTGM), which is essentially what we could call these half-assed MGTOWs, and none of that ideology is relevant to MGTOW theory and ideas, and it actually flies in the face of what MGTOW has been for many years now. They are not the same thing. There is no "going your own way" if you're waiting or expecting for political and social climates to change so you can hop back on the pussy-validation train of male disposability and servitude to god women and government (amongst other superstitious, irrational and tribal nonsense). All that shit is mutually exclusive to male sovereignty and male autonomy and freedom, and those slave mentalities are not MGTOW, as those beliefs and ideals are typically part of what men are "going their own way" from. Of corse laws and politics and female te nature is crucial and relevant to understand in why MGTOW even happened and why men do go their own way, but anything less than taking that off-ramp just ain't MGTOW, and it needs to be called out as such.
