They don't feel shame and guilt by themselves, they lack honor and are too solipsistic for it. What works however is shame from other people, that usually kept women in line for thousands of years.

Talked with a girl I've known a long time who cheated on her husband, now divorced.

She said she cheated even though she knew it was wrong at the time, due to her "love tanks being empty", followed by a "mutual" decision to divorce, probably scarring their daughter for life. She also grew up in a single parent home.

Eastern European girl, Kazakhstan to be precise.

In my personal and professional experiences that span multiple decades, I have met women who verbally expressed guilt for infidelity. But there was no visible physical outward manifestation consistent with any genuine internal sense of guilt. Even their verbal expressions contained a rationalized explanation that their infidelity was caused by some failure on the part of the man they cheated on. It's disgusting, depressing and incurable. The best thing that men can do for their own safety and sanity is to go their own way. It might be a difficult road, but it's less painful than the alternative.

Negative. Mine NEVER apologized for how shitty she was to me. The closest I got to an apology was "Yeah I see that was wrong. Let's leave it in the past." No apology, no making it up to me, no cathartic talk about it, no attempt to cater to my needs at all. If I tried to bring it up, she'd get mad. "I'm causing drama."

All of it should just stay in the past according to her. Ah yeah, she also had the gall to tell me after some time that "there's no reason for you to assume we're close to begin with" As in: "Fuck our past, it doesn't matter, I have new friends now and you aren't as important."

Just play it safe and don't count on them for ANYTHING. They aren't worth your precious time, nor your precious decency/dependability, nor your precious feelings/love, nor your sanity, nothing. They aren't grateful for shit, they don't appreciate anything and they won't give you anything in return. They simply do not care.
