You have to be willing to move to where your specialty is needed. Also, maybe you have to consider going back to school will not be worth it after a point? Getting into more debt (if you are in debt) will only make the situation worse for you and possibly not help get a job faster.

Go get certifications like CCNA, Juniper, and CompTIA. Also like another poster mentioned, move to cities that are in constant need for IT professionals. Cities like Austin, TX will be more up your alley to get a quick IT job. Create a LinkedIn by making it professional as possible, go to the job postings and mass apply to raise your chances of getting more interview chances. Choose the position your willing to work and once your there, gain more certifications like VMWare, AWS, MCSA, MCSE.

I had a BS degree in comp sci in 1991, and I didn't find full time work in IT field until 2003... although I did get work as in intern in 2001, after starting an MS degree in comp sci in 2000.

You must do an internship when you get a degree. Or try to work for the government. CompTIA certifications are good, such as Security+. The IT field is a bitch to break into, especially with Silicon Valley's Congressional lobbying about a fictitious IT worker shortage, and with H-1B visa workers.

Personally, I'd be tickled pink if the whole San Francisco/Mountain View/Berkeley/Silicon Valley had a hydrogen bomb dropped on it; as long I could watch video footage of some of those CEO cunts like Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, and Sundar Pichai stumble out in agony, irradiated, with their burnt skin peeling off in black strips.

Because -- like most people -- you're undoubtedly going about the "job hunt" all WRONG.

You're probably MAINLY (perhaps even SOLELY) submitting resumes/applications to "job openings" -- i.e. "cattle calls" -- which means your resume/application is one of hundreds, likely even thousands, and like 99% of them, it probably ends up in the "circular file."

You need to learn how to sneak in the (proverbial) BACK door.

IT? I don't know if you are in the states, but in my area (Florida Gulf Coast) IT is everywhere. A lot of new companies are moving here due to lower property costs, lower state taxes (zero state income tax!), and a lower cost of living.
