If you're good at math be an electrician. Once you're licensed and have a about 5 years under your belt working with a pro you can write your own ticket with minimum startup funds after that on-site training. By then you'll have aquired most all tools needed. Mostly clean work too. You won't have to go to a gym as working will keep ya in great shape. Hours are great too. Downside is you will have to work for someone for those 5 years to learn the ropes. Job sites have rules you'll need to learn and they differ depending in the type of site/foreman. There's also many trucks of the trade you won't learn in school. Good luck.

Learn a hands on trade. But be wise about your choice! Technology often trashes trades. Or alters them almost beyond recognition. Also economic swings can raise hell with them.

So the best insurance, is learning a trade thats not much effected by changes in economics or tech, that in a worst case scenario you can use to benefit yourself directly. I studied a trade: watchmaking, and then electronic watches trashed the mechanical wristwatch business.

So I decided to study another trade and went into construction. Construction experiences continual wide swings of boom and bust, but worst case is I can design and build my own shelter and other structures.

And I learned several other trades.

The more trades you know, the more actual security you have.

Right now if I were in the US, I could make good money in Construction or truck driving. But I've learned so many things, that I suspect my potential is in teaching skills in self sufficiency and making and doing things yourself.

It all adds up... practical things hold value better over time than money games.

And all markets get saturated and turned into bubbles.

Learn a trade. Learn to work hard. Everyone has to pay their dues.

As long as you have your high school degree, you are ok. Learning a trade is the best way to have your own business. Plumbers make good money because they are both needed and their are nowhere near enough.

If you want to do something else like you mentioned, find a job and learn it on the side. The post office is a good paying job that can give you the ability to have some cash to start playing around with trading.

Electrician, plumber, HVAC, mechanic. With any one of these you'll work your butt off but you'll make good money and can have your own business.

I'm gonna throw something different out here. I have a finance degree and even I don't understand the stock market enough to successfully day trade. You need a job that pays you for your ability to make someone else rich. Get into sales.

I worked in banking for 2 years out of college,made shit money. I was promoted to a manager position, and still wasn't cutting 40k. I took a sales job that had a base salary, commission, and bonuses. I tripled my income in 1 year, after learning how to sell. Made enough to move out, bought a nice car, and started taking huge bites out of my student loans.

Real Estate, Insurance, Auto Sales (which can be VERY lucrative, my friend makes 120 at a Ford dealership), or any job for a big company like Staples, Office Depot, that pays commission on sales. Commission is one of the best ways to get paid your worth. It's hard work, but put your head down, grind for a while, and you'll look up and suddenly notice you're rich.

I'm into web development. Pretty flexible working hours, low stress for me, above average salary. Depends on the country though.
