I’m curious about how you guys feel about the fact that almost every major horror movie franchise has had female leads as the hero.

Every Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween,Scream, Friday the 13th, and Texas Chainsaw, as well as movies like Alien and Silence of the Lambs.

Ive seen a few posts about Hollywood recently trying to womanize movies (usually the female ghostbusters or Ocean’s 8 are the main examples) but women as leads in original movies isn’t a new feminist thing. It’s been a staple in horror and thriller movies for decades.

I’m looking for actual opinions here. I don’t think movies are good based on whether the protagonist is male or female I think it just depends on if it’s a good movie or not.
