Not poor advice. If their church is a GOOD environment for accountability in terms of their beliefs as it relates to their marriage, discipleship and transparency makes sense. If the church is pandering to liberal beliefs and trending cultural phenomenon, this will not be effective.

Edit: by not poor, I'm saying its not entirely bad advice. Just multiple things have to line up church culture-wise for change to be effective. With the state of many modern churches today, from my experience, that culture is usually not conducisve to a thriving marriage. Hence, the divorce rate among Christians being similar to non Christians.

Huge Red Flag. Woman nowadays get told that everything they feel and do is good. With borderline woman that means that they will jump on the wildest tangents doing shit without remorse.

Had a girlfriend that was borderline and would cut open her arms so that they would bleed profusely. Dragged her to hospital. She dumped me over it.

Then had a female borderline acquaintance that would stalk her therapists and thereby got thrown out of therapies again and again. She did not comprehend how her behaviour contributed to all the misfortunes she met. She would regularly fall in love quickly with someone then have a fall-out with them within 1-2 months. And would call me then about her suicidal thoughts. Extremely emotionally draining. Last I saw of her when she disrupted the Christmas I had with my brother and his spouse.

As usual it's the man that's trying to problem solve. He's been doing it all along. We are programmed to do it. We even enjoy doing it. Everyone likes to feel useful.

This woman is making it her priority to let/watch this monkey jump through hoop after hoop until he breaks but men don't like to break. So he's even seeking advice to solve another problem but the root of the problem is her entitlement.

No matter what happens, she 'wins'. He wants to 'fix' it but even then, she wins. She's making him do more and more and instead of saying no, he's already done it so now he knows/feels he's been and is being fucked. And he is. But what's he going to tell ANYONE?

Him: "She's abusing me!"

Shrink: "What's she doing?"

Him (shrinks in chair): "Well itn's not any ONE thing, it's little things!"

Shrink: "Ok, give me an example."

Him: "Ok, well, she says things like 'I can't do it' to get me to put the batteries in the remote control."

Shrink: "Ok, and...."

Him: "Ok well she [insert minor occurance]"

By the time it's over the husban is going to feel so petty but it's fucking REAL. He'll start to think the shrink thinks he's nuts. The wife will just say "See! Maybe he's just not happy because these are such trivial things... this isn't abuse..."

It's gaslighting.

To put it in spiritual terms she's a Poltergeist "A noisy spirit". Of course most of us think the person has to be dead to be a poltergeist. But really, if you're religious and believe in all of that stuff, then you believe we have souls. She's a noisy restless soul. She needs to be exercised, which is what the religious guy is saying. Other people need to see this and expose it to exercise it, but she's not going to let that happen.

This is what she's doing and there's nothing he can do about it. If he doesn't change the batteries in the remote, not even he can turn on the tv. So he does it. If he doesn't, she doesn't really care otherwise she would have done it herself. She likes watching her monkey jump more than she likes any TV show.

If he tells someone, no one can really understand how deep the rabbit hole goes and they certainly can't feel it. So it will be treated as trivial or "fuck it, leave her!" but he doesn't want to do that either. If he leaves people woul dbe thinking "you left over batteries in the remote?"

It's all up to him. Hes on his own.
