Yet - (and I have had this very conversation), when you point out to the person who’s just told you the “patriarchy” oppresses women and benefits men, with clear, objective, undeniable examples, how men are suffering, and in ways that don’t affect women, that fuck-knuckle will often say, without even an iota of doubt or critical thinking that:

“Yes well the patriarchy harms men too, and thats why we should all be feminists, to overthrow the patriarchy and make life better for women AND men”.

To recap for anyone who missed this point, the logic of proponents of the patriarchy is:

“The patriarchy exists to give privilege to men and oppress women”.
When it’s pointed out that many men suffer greatly in the world (admittedly along with many women), they flip to the following statement which is incompatible with their original proposition:
“The patriarchy is bad for men too, help us to overthrow it.”
