I was thinking about this and was wondering if this is actually done. There is the whole marriage ceremony in the church but there is no actual signing of documents that legally bind the two. To me this would seem like a reasonable compromise. The woman gets her fairytale fantasy wedding and the husband isn't exposed to the financial risks from the divorce.
