Domestic violence assault, cross post from legaladvice

So, Location: Utah. Super long story as short as humanly possible, I was in a relationship with a gal that has borderline personality disorder. Over the course of several months, the police were at my house 3 times for assault. The first time, she threw her drink in my face while I was sleeping, then proceeded to berade me in every way possible, hitting, slapping, shoving.. at some point I grabbed her arms to stop her. Cops showed up, asked if I wanted to press charges etc., I didn't, before they left they gave me an assault charge... Second time, no one was charged. The third time, she pushed me into a bathtub, 5 staples in my head and 9 stitches elsewhere, she called the cops after, they arrested her, NB for like 6 days, got aggravated and assault on an officer as well. I was unemployed when I first went to court for my charge so I got a public defender. The plea deal for me was/is: domestic disorderly conduct. After she was arrested I went back in, PD goes on this rant about how the prosecutor already has convicted her of DV assault, because of this and because it was aggregated they kicked it to a higher court bla bla... Same plea deal!! So... He initially reviewed the discover and told me something like, "well at one point you did tell the officer that you restrained her so she couldn't continue hitting you" or something... I fully realize DV assault to domestic disturbance is a good deal, if I had actually assaulted her. But I did not. He says my odds are low if I take it to trial. Obviously y'all don't have the discovery etc., but what do you think? Here's the kicker, I have a license from the state board/DOPL (trying to not give specifics for somewhat anonymity sake), this has already impacted my job (it's been hard as hell finding one, but I did thankfully)... Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you for reading my novel haha.
