Warren Farrell has an interesting history of opinions, where do you stand?

The myth of male power is a thought provoking book. His lectures are also high value. Because he is so articulate, there has been considerable effort to assassinate his character by his detractors. Most criticism I've seen directed his way comes either from quote-mining an interview in penthouse from the early seventies, or from controversial passages from Myth of Male power. I believe manboobz even made an attempt to wave hands at providing context, but the critical thing omitted when he did so were the citations to the studies he was referring to. For instance, in one controversial passage, he mentions that women sometimes say no when they mean yes; a very disturbing thing to read, but nobody refers to the cited study which provided the foundation for the claim.

Warren Farrell tends to structure his books to present his rationale for an interpretation of studies (with references to those studies). This is a little different than a "history of opinions". I find that, as with pretty much anything you read, it is good to check the sources and form your own opinions (and I have found at least one example in Farrells' work that I thought was an omission of convenience to make his case).

All in all, Warren Farrell is a fair minded and compassionate man who writes about uncomfortable subjects, and arms his readers to agree or disagree with him on the basis of actual studies. If you form your opinion without reading any of his work, you're doing yourself a disservice.
