September first 2014, I received a call that my now ex had taken my kids to Canada from Spain where we live and have lived since 2008.
The Hague Convention provides for remedy from this type of "abduction".
Trial was held under the convention rules on November 4th, 2014. The trial judge rendered his decision on December 10th, and ordered the children's return for the 15th of December, after which the respondent filed for appeal. After being constantly reminded that we men have no rights when it comes to our kids, not verbally, but just in the way things are being handled, I.E. having to pay for their return tickets, having to give her money, and a host of other concessions which I believe encourage the commission of this type of crime, today, the appellate court has decided that the appeal is without merit and has ordered the kid's return for June 26th, 2015.
At my suggestion, after they finish their school year so as not to further disrupt their lives.
I did not want to make a long post, I simply wanted other dads to know that regardless of how bad it gets, and it sometimes gets bad, there are times when we have a victory. If all goes well, I can hug my daughters again in June. YAAAAYYYYYY!
EDIT: added " and ordered the children's return for the 15th of December, " in the third paragraph for clarity
