+DrewYetti It is, in my opinion, the same psychological and behavioral toolkit that causes men to be more likely than women to directly engage in individual or group violence that also drives men, but rarely women, to do these amazing, heroic or even just courteous things.

When men see a need, they are more likely than women to take action. When women see a need, they're more likely than men to just complain until someone else takes action.

One of the biggest crimes of feminism, IMO, is their assertion that men lack compassion essentially because they don't complain. They don't emote, they act. They don't cry, they do. They don't talk about how scared they are, they get on with it. They don't gush, they get to work.

Can anyone say that someone willing to swim in freezing water to rescue a goat stranded on an ice floe lacks compassion just because he isn't as interested in vomiting his emotions on everyone around him? If he lacks compassion, why would he take the action he did, given the incredible discomfort and risk to his safety?

I took women's studies in college. (What can I say, it filled a requirement, and it fit my schedule.) One day in the late spring we had the windows open. A bee flew in. Everyone, even the tattooed/pierced diesel dikes, ran into the hallway screaming, except 3 people: myself, a friend of mine (male) who took the class for the same reason, and the other guy in the class. My friend got up, caught the bee between his cupped hands, and put it outside. Everyone came back in and continued harping about patriarchy and misogyny.

A few minutes later, the bee came back. Again, all but 3 of us ran into the hallway. I got up and held out my hat until the bee landed on it. I put the bee outside and the 3rd guy helped me shut the windows. Everyone came back in and continued harping about patriarchy and misogyny.

Nobody acknowledged what had just happened. None of them thanked either of us for taking care of a "problem" that affected us all. To them, men doing something for them was unremarkable to the point of being completely invisible. It's not always like that, but it's common enough that the notion of "toxic masculinity" should make every man's jaw drop.

I can't wait until we get rid of masculinity and make everyone feminine. One day instead of these videos, it will one where the woman or child dies because no one wants to help her and then there will be wringing of hands going "why are people so selfish?!".

One would hope that on that day we remember how we arrived at such a farce but that I doubt it.
