My friend was actually contacted by the Chronicle reporter for comment, but due to the fact he needs to maintain a good relationship with his abuser for fear of losing access to his young child who she has custody of,didn't want to be publicly identified other than his online persona. Despiteoffering the Chronicle a means to verify his identity off the record they saidthey could not include anything about his thoughts/story without specifically naminghim. I find it abhorrent that the Chronicle would take this stance andwonder if the same boundaries would have been placed on a female abuse victimmaking comment?

Same old lies we have heard from this gang of crooks for the past 45 years.

“This does not detract from the work the force does to support male victims and this has been the subject of earlier campaigns. Overall the campaign centres on a poster which does not mention gender and focuses on a non-gender specific agenda.”

Um, excuse me. Painting domestic violence as a gender specific problem as you just did literally in the same problem does detract from helping male victims. And your poster most definitely is gender specific.

I think the main problem here is being overlooked. 'Coercion' should not be illegal to begin with and only serves to foster a victim mentality. Every weekend I hear 'I better be back by half 10 or the missus will kill me' or 'my girlfriend always looks through my phone'. Is this really going to be treated as a crime if these men walked into a police station. Doubtful. But get a woman turning on the waterworks and complaining of the same behaviour and all of a sudden the man is 'abusive and controlling'.

Partners male and female alike make requests/demands of one another and if you don't like it...tell them to fuck off. It should only become a crime if they MAKE you behave a certain way (most of which are already offences). If someone steals your passport, confiscates car keys or threatens violence...then yes, the police should be involved. But if a partner tells you not to go see your your friends and you're weak enough to be controlled by them...yes you need help...but not from the police.

And new guidance for judges in strengthened protection orders in New Zealand will require consideration of each wheel of the Deluth model, written gender neutral, so potential to move this way if judges can apply them gender neutral. However also new training being provided to judges (not sure who by) in interperating this, just to gaurentee it is applied selectivly.

It will be through Europe in 5 years, and the world in 15.
