That reminds me of the case where a woman withdrew consent and said something like 'no stop' while she straddled the guy and then he didn't withdraw fast enough even though he was underneath.

The part I am concerned about is withdrawing consent. As someone this has happened to I would think this means being in the middle of something, deciding not to continue then being forced into it further. Do you guys think such a vague definition could extend to someone changing their mind about or regretting an encounter afterward and if so what would this mean for a bloke in a situation like that? How much recourse would a person have?

That's a very good concern to have. A reasonable person would say that "withdrawing consent" would involve something where the person withdrawing consent starts saying no and explicitly conveys wanting to stop.

But we know that reasonable people aren't always the ones making the laws and policies. Some feminists might argue that "rape victims sometimes fall silent and don't resist, for the sake of their own safety, and as such the only reason she didn't communicate a withdrawal of consent is that she was terrified from what he was doing to her, ERGO she was raped."

Now... could that be somehow logically stretched into "regretted sex is rape"? I find that hard to believe unless some sort of affirmative consent standard is used (so a lack of YESYESYESMOREOHMYGODYES! becomes equated to the presence of a "no, stop!"). But in practice, we'd probably see the feminist argument I previously outlined used to justify this de facto... "she withdrew consent but she was too scared to communicate it" is basically impossible to disprove after all.

I think the bigger concern - which was highlighted in the Australia sub - is their false reporting of statistics.

The sample was self-selected. Participation wasn't mandatory or randomised. It was voluntary. Obviously with this kind of survey, people who've experienced the problem are much more likely to participate.

The report apparently (I've not had time to read it yet) acknowledges that possibility eventually.

However, throughout the statistics it presents are "x% of students experienced blah blah blah", when it should be "x% of respondents".

This statistical lie gets repeated in attempts to whip up hysteria.

The survey of students at 39 Australian universities found 51% of students were sexually harassed in 2016, and 6.9% of students had been sexually assaulted in either 2015 or 2016.

I'm a victim of sexual harassment at a university. Friends and colleagues have copped it too. I know it happens. Fifty-one percent though beggars belief.
