Funny how when others act like complete assholes they deserve to be shamed, yet suddenly that goes out the window when she's the guilty party and all of a sudden we're not allowed to ridicule her.

More interesting and unfortunate:

One consequence of women’s timidity is that they are less willing to come forward as guests on shows like the Channel 4 News or the BBC’s Today programme. Newman admitted she “positively discriminates in favour of women” to counter the natural male-centric bias.

That's stupid of her. If she is constantly picking guests who aren't actually appropriate for the subject matter or who don't really want to be there, just so she can say her show has lots of females, then many of the women she interviews will come across as uninformed, uninsightful and generally pathetic. Eventually viewers will start to associate "woman on tv = airhead", thus creating the very same sexist stereotypes that she is trying to avoid.

But Newman is the interviewer who did that Peterson interview isn't she. Where she responded to a point he made about how lobsters show signs of social hierarchy by saying "So you're arguing we should organise our society like lobsters?". It's hard not to wonder if she's a token female herself.

Ah, I didn't realise that she'd said something sexist before interviewing Peterson. Well played that woman, although she didn't have to take it that far.

Women, she thinks, need to be “pushy and sharp elbowed” to get ahead, particularly in male-dominated environments such as journalism. For Newman, “leaning in” has included quizzing her then editor why a junior male colleague earned more than she did. His answer? That she didn’t have a family to support or a mortgage to pay. She pointed out that neither did the man in question, winning herself the pay rise.
