"Strong Female Characters"

I like it, but only when it's done right. Having a "strong female" character in media these days is often done just for that.

My favourite show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. THAT was a show that didn't give two fucks about gender barriers. Some things in the show wouldn't fly today (people complain about it 20 years later).

The latest Lara Croft (from the Origins trilogy) shows how well a female character can be developed. But it also gives more dimensions to Lara as a character too. I was glad that the developers gave Lara larger muscles this time. I'm a fairly skinny guy and there wouldn't be a hope in Hell that I could do some of those stunts and climbing, yet she tended to have smaller muscles than me 😂

Right now it's mostly a fad. People don't seem to realise that what they are crying out for already exists in the media. But because they're too busy crying about inequality, they're not realising that the equality is there.

Now, where's my "weak male character" 😂

The issue here is not the strong female characters is the crap propaganda that shoving down our throats everyday.

So when you complaint about this crap, the answer is: "they don't want to eat their veggies" well FU you and your focking progressists veggies!

Some characters who I think are good examples of this. Because the problem is that nowadays a "strong female character" just means "a masculine female character" I like it when women can be feminine and also get their goals accomplished.

Samus - specifically the Metroid manga they published once

Brawne Lamia - The Hyperion Cantos

Homura - Madoka Magica

Mikasa - Attack on Titan

Jasnah - The Stormlight Archives

Euphemia and Cornelia - Code Geass

How about complex characters that aren't simply strong or weak or evil or good or smart or dumb?

Especially since "strong female character" nowadays often means that she effortlessly kicks any man's ass both physically and verbally all the time.

I made a post about this a few days ago, and the problem isn’t strong female characters (which I am all for) but the tokenism and pandering behind it. I made this connection to the decision to change The Doctor from Doctor Who, a character established for more than five decades, into a woman all for the sake of pandering to feminists.

I get tired of things I have to do. But anyway, sometimes these characters are geared towards women, we have more than enough Male icons to appease us. On the plus side the "strong female" characters are almost always eye candy, so they still appeal to most men. Not seeing the problem.
