For the last few years in New Zealand it's been called "Movember". We grow the most badass 'stache we can for the entire month. Most employers are happy to get behind the cause. Of course, I grow some good looking facial hair, but my "stache" ends up looking like facial pubes. So I just grow it all out and end up having a mini-beard by December.

EDIT: Looks like movember isn't just a kiwi thing.
