In highschool, I had a history teacher write the death toll for the Iraq and Afghan war on her greaseboard every morning. At work, there is a two-page newspaper-size poster of every person's (military and civilian)name who died from these wars. One poster for every year. They cover an entire hallway.

These are the reminders I have.

It's unusual, so it's news.

If you want a gender-balanced death toll, then start badgering the Armed Services to fucking integrate already, instead of restricting the jobs that servicewomen can perform.
