In Michigan it's one penny or one day late. The only reason you'd not be a felon is prosecutor discretion.

Strictly speaking when an unwed father has a baby and is billed his portion of the child's birth expenses, he's a felon until he pays the bill.

I'm happy about this, but part of me wonders if more women than men are falling behind in Rhode Island on child support
