Disgusting abortion of justice.

• Grooming and assaulting a child for 3+ years and she gets to plead guilty to a single charge of sexual assault despite multiple instances of statutory rape.

• She gets to serve her 90-day "sentence" on weekends

• She gets to keep custody of her daughter, because the judge also altered the standard ban of holding a position of authority or trust over someone under the age of 18 to be male only

• And as a cherry on top, looks like what the victim suffered was really of no consequence to the court either;

Cowan-Wilson’s victim, whose name is protected by a publication ban, was too distraught to be in court, his mother said. But according to a victim impact statement delivered at Cowan-Wilson’s guilty plea, the now 19 year old has suffered profoundly with anger, guilt and shame since the encounters.

“We chose not to go to trial,” his mother said outside court on Tuesday.

“This process isn’t over today for (my son) and our family. There is a lifetime of healing ahead for us. No sentence could satisfy us.”

Just imagine if she was a guy then the jail term could be 90 months (about 7 1/2 years) and lose custody and possibly won't be questioned about such a large gap when applying for jobs.

The judge should make the teacher pay for the teen's psychotherapy sessions (at $260 / hour).

I hope the parents sue for that.
