Can you have a few drinks and get buzzed without going on a drunken joyride? Yes, you can. Love is similarly drug-like: it's okay to feel and enjoy the effects of it, but not if you can't remain in control of yourself. If you can't step back and objectively examine your decisions and know when they are being influenced by your infatuation, that's a problem.

There is a benefit to feeling, "in love" too. Just as alcohol can be a social lubricant, the love feeling can be a relational lubricant; both make it easier to get along and overlook minor faults.

Yeah I have to agree, even though I have no experience with women. Love for everything and everyone unconditionally is the right kind of love. Love for a female because she has a personality that you feel is hard for you to find is horrible.

Yes and no.

There's a reason why it's called 'putting a woman on a pedestal.' Your oneitis you look up to and respect and try to mold yourself to be like her and her interests. It's reversed.

"Feeling in love" does not necessarily mean you are going to put a woman on a pedestal, but it is also likely correlated as you tend to be more blind to a woman's faults and tend to have a more idealized version of her.

I have met a few Christian men who were "in love" but knew what the Bible said about marriage and walked it out.

God is love. We are to be like God, so we are to love. Love is a choice to treat another person well.

The "feeling" of love, and Oneitis, is actually infatuation. It's the kind of love that 13 year old girls feel for Justin Bieber, for instance. Infatuation is based solely on emotion.

Feeling in love and Oneitis has nothing to do with frame, it's the difference between "loving" like the world and loving like God, which would be agape love. The essence of agape love is goodwill, benevolence, and willful delight in the object of love.
