You're not being materialistic. He's just not that into you. You might have done nothing wrong and it's just the distance. He might just be a jerk, who takes advantage. Two things can also be true at once. I'd suggest you seek a local relationship next time and avoid these issues.

He doesn’t like you, but is willing to receive free and easy sex and gifts from you. You can’t make someone love you by giving them more of what they already don’t appreciate. Full text: So I have been dating my bf for over a year.

It's LDR. It has always been me travelling to see him (3hrs). He usually used to book the hotel and the food(1-2 days every 2-4 months). During our course of relationship I have sent him gifts, small things even though I don't earn anymore (preparing for my exam) and earlier when I was it was 1/4th of his income.

So since currently I am jobless and pretty much broke as well as I am just preparing for my exams. I went to see him twive and both times he asked me to book the hotels + the meals.

Is it normal for the bf to just stop spending/ taking care of the other person? Also note that I am not being materialistic but since at the moment I am jobless I just didn't understand his lack of initiative.

If I was working I will have no problem staying over and travelling at my expense.
