Come on, he has whole US gov against him and by the law he is a traitor. I wish him all the best but his chances are extremely slim. Either he will run away his whole life or Chinese will trade him. There is nothing for him in the future.

Its not that simple.

He went public. If the US were to suddenly dispose of him, the world would know. His reasoning of going to China is actually pretty smart from his point for a couple of reasons. For one, any covert action to dispose of him would cause the biggest clusterfuck of an uproar in China/US relation which would HUGELY affect our economy. Secondly, US and China hack each other all the time, and he is quite the asset to the Chinese. They will put him in the most secure prison to try to get information out of him before even thinking about offing him, much less returning him to US.

He was also smart enough to not release any information that can clearly be seen as treason, this is a big plus in his favor.

He has also been offered asylum officially by Iceland, and probably unofficialy by other countries. The EU isn't happy about this either, so they are more than willing to protect him.

All of this leaves US with very few options of how to actually get him, without going to a full out war.

No doubt he will have to face shit on top of shit, but he has some very good cards in his hands.

They can pull a Manning on him and just throw him into prison forever, without a trial. The world can know and won't care. The EU will complain and condemn the behaviour and then will keep on doing nothing. Nobody likes to mess with the alpha dog on this planet.

The problem with your analysis, is believing that the US is the alpha because its the best. Its the alpha because its the bully with rich parents and a mean dog. Eventually the rest of the neighborhood will get tired of the bully and put him in his place.

I have never said that. As of today the US has the most advanced weaponry and more international influence than any other nation. That's a fact.

The US has been the bad guy and her actions have been condemned internationally numerous times.

Think napalm in Vietnam, atomic bombs in Japan, drug and arms smuggling in Central/South America with CIA involvement, 'weapons of mass destruction' in Iraq, the leaked cables, ...

Did this change anything?

The US is going to stay the top dog for quite some time if it doesn't self-destruct by debasing the dollar a bit too much. Only if the majority of other nations lose confidence in the dollar, it will be a problem.

The legal standard for treason is so high that it is nearly impossible to get a conviction on it as a charge. He definitely violated a non-disclosure agreement though, and may be prosecutable under lesser charges.

There are two countries in this world that are likely to say no to the U.S. when it comes to extraditing this man - Russia and China.
