Ive recently been reading some of Hemingway's short stories and novel The Sun Also Rises. He has an uncanny ability to capture true alpha and beta qualities. The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber is a really good example. Francis Macomber is a very wealthy beta provider on safari with his hot wife (very cold and manipulative) and their safari guide Robert Wilson (Super Alpha.... hunts big game for a living). Guess who the wife sleeps with on the trip? Macomber makes the transition to Alpha later in the story, literally in front of his wife's eyes. I wont spoil the ending, but its tragically expected.
