Some background on my boss. He's in his 30s, married a few years already, they have a 2 year old and 6 month old now as well.

At a recent company party after a few beers, my boss told me that I shouldn't get married, and that I should also wait 2-5 years to have kids. I told him no problems there.

Then I asked why he got married if he's telling me not to.

You know what he said?

His wife had given him an ultimatum saying if he didn't propose to her by a certain time she would leave him. So he proposed by this time, and she acted very surprised, and then they got married.

I'm one of the only single people in my office still, which actually feels kind of strange. Most of the guys tell me they wish they miss being single, but apparently they don't miss it enough to do anything about it. One just got engaged, another lives with his gf and they have a dog together.

Really makes me rethink motivations for getting married altogether.

Edit: Let me just add here that I'm in no danger of getting married any time soon, but I do appreciate the emphasis from many of you not to do so.
