So I went out with a girl last night. Not sure if it went well or not. I always get confused by the "don't pay attention to what she says" principle. I always find what women say and what they do hard to distinguish.
So, we met up at 8pm at a local bar. Things went well for the most part. I would say she was very flirty. Touched me all the time.
Conversation was not the most stunning and revealing and intense of a lifetime, but it was good and entertaining and flowed freely.
I think I had one real mistake and one possible mistake.
I talked too long about my recent ex-girlfriend. We were on the subject of relationships and past relationships. In my head, I knew the recent ex was good for an anecdote or two without getting too personal. But I got carried away with the drama and probably went on a couple minutes too long.
The possible mistake was splitting the bill. I put my card down and she went for her purse. I know that sometimes, that's the moment where I'm supposed to say, No, No, I got this. But even though I invited her out, she was the one who sought out my number after we met last weekend. I had planned on us splitting that bill, and then treating at the next place we went to. But we never ended up going to a second place. I know she's got money and dated rich guys before. I don't want her to see me as BB, shelling out for every drink, right from the first date.
She was a bit rushed to leave. It may be that she had to be up for work. I didn't have any reason to get up early, so I was all up for going out till very late on a Monday and hopefully going home together afterwards. It's perfectly plausible, especially on a first date, that she needed to get home, and alone by midnight, to be up for work by 6 or 7. I can understand that.
Even so, she says she wished she could cuddle with me, and was literally snuggling up to me in the bar and saying how good it felt that I was so big she could snuggle with my arms all around her.
However, she left into the taxi kinda abruptly, but did quickly come in for a kiss. Which was quick, but warm. Not a peck.
So, how does that read? Cuddling. A kiss. But she voiced that she was a bit turned off by my talking about the ex. And I gleaned that she wasn't thrilled that we split the bill. The rest of the conversation was good, but not magical.
I went home thinking it was a mutual rejection (though I definitely would have fucked her, given the chance.) Now, I think, maybe I paid too much attention to her words, and her physical contact showed positive signs.
Don't know how to follow up though. I leave on vacation in 2 days, so it's not clear how I could suggest a new date.
