Avid TRP user since July and I can say that I implement it extensively in my life now. However, one drawback I find in this community and especially the ASKtrp thread is the perpetual notion of negativity that spawns from both experienced TRP vets and lurkers. It dismayed me to begin with in that whenever I asked about help concerning a scenario with a girl and saw others do the same; the generic reply would be that she:
1) will cheat on you
2) will cheat on you
3) will cheat on you
It kind of defeats the purpose of improving yourself in terms of finding an LTR (for those such as myself that wished to do so) and I feel that it is constantly abused as a reply for even the the most minor situations. I am not writing this b/c I am leaking of insecurities, but I wish to help those that are new to TRP and are look for some positive solutions rather than having them drown in pessimism with this new found knowledge.
My best advice, coming from my current experience, is to observe TRP in real life, rather than mindlessly soaking in half-assed replies and misguided information from this sub. For myself, observing my father's interactions with my mother was TRP in proof. They clearly love each other, but my dad lays down his boundaries and carries a stoic approach that has given them a healthy relationship of 25+ years. Based on my first experiences when finding TRP, I felt extremely angry and depressed that the notion of true love did not exist and I would never be able to hold a relationship with a woman. I am currently in an LTR and perhaps I will get cheated on and perhaps shit may happen, but my approach is not one of anger, spite and negativity. Rather I understand the psychological and social framework of a relationship between a man and a woman and assert myself just as as I see from my father. I am extremely happier and I do not feel condoned to the negative assumptions of AWALT, hamstering, etc. Rather, I have internalized these concepts knowing that it is a part of a women's genetic coding and have come to peace at having a healthy relationship.
TLDR; Don't feel that it is impossible to have a healthy LTR with TRP knowledge under your belt. The best way to internalize TRP is to observe someone from your surroundings (eg: father, uncle, friend) and observe firsthand the positive effects and healthy attitude that it may bring to your relationship.
