I searched before making this, to see what people had previously said on the subject. People seem to either say

1) They're completely bullshit and fictional, and just something you're letting hold you back, or

2) They vaguely exist, but can't stop you if you play your cards right, or

3) There aren't "leagues", just types. No one is "higher" or "better" than anyone else

I'd tend towards 2, or even a little farther. I mean sure, in the wide wide scheme of things, no human is inherently 'better' than any other, but people do have expectations. A beautiful, wealthy woman who's a neurosurgeon and also hilarious is going to expect to be able to get an equally good mate. If you're a pale chubster neckbeard who has only graduated highschool, I don't think any amount of game you spit is going to get her. She knows what she deserves, and that kind of guy is just below her.

Obviously, playing your cards right can advertise yourself better, and make yourself appear to be in a higher 'league'.

As for 3), I think there are certainly are 'types' as well, but that doesn't preclude there being 'leagues' also.
