Been pretty active on this sub for about 4 months now. This report is going to cover a 2 week span. Just because you make one mistake doesn't mean you've completely destroyed your chances.
two weeks ago
I saw a smokin' hot blond (HB8) sitting with her friend eating lunch. I was already in a great mood that day (as I usually am 99% of the time) and I was ready to approach. I used to be hesitant approaching girls while their eating, but anymore I just approach. I saw she was wearing a "(some random town) Volleyball" hoodie. I love shit like this since I'm an athlete at my university. A friend of mine was walking with me to help wing. As I walked past her (yes, I walked past her) I turned my head over my shoulder and said in a confident, collected voice, "Wow, you have stunning eyes." I also made strong eye contact. A huge smile stretched across her face and she said, "Hey, thanks!" I then transitioned into talking about her hoodie. I sat down with her and her friend and talked for about 5 to 10 minutes.
I want to take a minute and elaborate on this a little. Normally, I wouldn't sit down like this, I would continue to let her feel like I'm going to walk away at any minute. However, we were in a crowded cafeteria and people kept having to walk around and dodge me, which made for a real nuisance in our conversation flow.
(sidenote: I was waiting for my friend to wing and talk to her friend, but he was nowhere to be found. Come to find out, he spotted a girl from across the room he wanted to approach so I can't be mad at that.)
After talking a bit I was just straight forward with her and told her the real reason I stopped to talk to her was because I thought she was really cute. Again, a smile stretched across her face and she let out a thank you. (She also blushed, which I took as a good sign.) We parted ways and I went on to class.
Wait, what?!?!?!?!
Yeah, you read that right, I made a big rookie mistake. I forgot to get her fucking number. I was so caught up in the joys of my successful approach and catching this girls attention I just got up and walked away. Needless to say, I was kicking myself in the balls for a matter of days.
A couple days passed and I was still really pissed at myself for being such a fuck and not finishing out the game plan, but it was over, I wasn't going to reminisce on it forever, there are tons of other girls.
(fast forward two weeks)
It's Thursday night before spring break (3 days ago) and everyone's getting ready to rage because half of the campus was leaving the next day for break. Of course, my friends wanted to go out and have a good time. I obviously wasn't opposed, I just don't drink on Thursdays. I was getting over the flu, but said fuck it, I was cool with just being DD and meeting some new people. We hit up one party that was supposed to be good, but was a complete bust. I opened up a couple sets, but the girls were beyond boring and I didn't see any need to further pursue them. We peaced after about 2 hours and headed over to our usual go-to on Thursdays.
We got there and sure enough, it was in full effect. At this point, I was ready to have the most fun I've ever had in my life. I didn't care if it was the biggest sausage fest in town. I was going to have a damn good night with my friends. We walked in, saw a couple people we knew, talked a little, then made our way into the dance room.
I walked in looking confident as can be, smile on my face, ready to let loose. I scanned the room (which was fucking packed) and there she was. The HB8 from two weeks ago and she was looking fucking fine. The fact that I fucked up the last time only fueled me to make sure I achieved this time. Even though she was there, my sole focus of the night was the have fun and meet people.
Guys, go out with the intent to have fun! Period! Go out because you want to. Sure, I really wanted to take this girl home, but if it didn't happen, I wasn't going to let it ruin my night.
I've gotten the reputation at this house on Thursdays as the guy who literally gives zero fucks. Most of the people there know I don't drink on Thursdays and often times people ask me hoe fucked up I am and I laugh and tell them I'm high on life and keep doing my thing. If you walk in and look around, you'll see me with the most energy, dancing like I don't care (I'm not the greatest dancer ever, either, I just don't care.) I don't rely on alcohol to have a good time!
I started dancing in the middle of the room by myself. Yes, by myself! I was going to be the center of attention. A couple girls came up and joined me. I then grabbed one of them and started to grind for a little bit. This was great social proof. I love my friends, but they just care way too much. They were off standing somewhere talking. I was out dancing like I was going to die in the next 5 minutes. Then, it happened!
About 3 songs in I feel someone kind of "slam" into me from behind. I turn around and it's the blond from two weeks ago. Her friends were behind her cracking up. Not being a complete moron, I put two and two together and knew her friends had pushed her into me. (Little does she know with my peripherals I saw her talking to her friends and looking at me for about 5 minutes.) I wasn't about trying to chase this girl around like a piece of meat, because frankly, why should I? Why shouldn't she chase me around?! I'm just as awesome (and attractive) as she is.
I turned around and looked her straight in the eyes and she said, "I'm so sorry, my friends..." and I stopped her. I said, "Hey, are we going to make excuses, or are we going to have a good time?!" BOOM! The rest of the night this girl wouldn't get off of me (not that I'm complaining). She could dance like a motherfucker and it was turning me on like none other. After about 4 songs, she grabbed me and pulled me over to a wall where we continued to dance for probably 10 to 15 minutes.
Afterwards she told me she had to go because he friends were ready. I teased her for a bit about how she's a follower and she doesn't "have" to leave she "wants" to leave. Before she left I told her to give me her number and that I wanted to take her out sometime. Got her number and told her to be safe! We've been talking quite a bit since then and have made plans to go out when everyone's back from break.
I continued to enjoy the rest of my night, dancing with a couple other girls and helping a buddy of mine get some numbers.
I felt really good going home that night for a number of reasons.
Positives
I gave zero cares. Guys, when you give zero cares, you'll really start to enjoy life to the fullest. All my friends are too embarrassed to just let loose and have a good time. Guys, you're at a party where 90% of the people are drunk and won't remember anyways and they also have no clue what they themselves are even doing. And even if they weren't drunk, who cares? You're having a good time, that's what matters!
Social proof! I'm not going to say that the two girls that came up and grinded on me is what got HB8 to get "pushed" into me, but I do think it helped. I'm a firm believer that you can create your own social proof by just being you, doing you, and having fun. I walked in the dance room, went straight to the middle of everyone and just let go! People take notice, trust me!
Just because you make one mistake doesn't mean all hope is lost. Sure, I didn't get her number the first time I met her and I was kicking myself over it, I'm human. Lucky for me, I got a shot to redeem myself. This time, though, I went in with a different mindset. I knew from the first time I approached this girl that she was interested so when I saw her at the party I was going to make her have to come to me cause I was focused on having a good time. It worked!
What to take from this FR
- Go out with the intention to have fun
- Be yourself
- Don't care what everyone else thinks
- Just cause you make a mistake doesn't mean you're completely fucked
- Find friends with the same mindset (still in search for them) Like I said, I love my friends, but they just don't get it. Yet, they wonder why they never have as much fun as I do.
TL;DR - Approached a HB8, connected off the bat, but made a rookie mistake and didn't get her number. Two weeks later, I got a shot at redemption.
