Was In Brisbane this past w.e for a gaming event, and picked up a HB8, so thought I would share with you guys! First field report I've done sorry, so not sure if I've screwed it up :S anyways,

Story goes like this:

Me and 2 mates in line at subway, when I notice a blonde HB8 walk in alone, after a few seconds talking to my mate I walk up to her and the conversation unfolds:

Me: "Hey are you from around here?"

Her: "No, I'm from netherlands"

Me: "oh ok, do you know where any good bars/clubs are?"

Her: "I'm not sure, tonight I might be drinking at my backpackers, where are you from?"

Me: "Melbourne, but we're staying up the road at (insert backpackers name)"

Her: "me too! What are you guys doing tonight?"

Me: "oh awesome, maybe I'll see you there. We have a gaming tournament after party we're going to!"

Her: "What, really?"

Me: "Yeah check this out, I have the ticket/pro player pass here"

Her: "No way that's totally weird!"

me: "No its fucken awesome, clearly you're not an awesome nerd like us!, anyway we gotta go, whats your name and number?"

Her: gives me number etc,

Me: "Ok maybe I'll see you later".

End.

Later that night, texted her saying we'll be at the hostel about 11, she says "hurry :)". By this stage I know I'm pretty in, and I proceed to hang out with her and some of her friends, later f-closing her, success!

This sounds like a pretty normal, boring, standard pick-up and perhaps I got pretty lucky that she was staying in the same hostel as me, but there were a few pretty key points that get missed in text. I think there may have been one or two other small things mentioned but thats the general gist of it. Most of the interaction occurred with body language and eye contact, which is the way I feel it should be, as women engage in conversation more with emotions, and the words are of little consequence.

  1. I was fully confident and assuming attraction when I approached her.

  2. Totally owned being a 'Nerd' and gaming, and re-framed it as being awesome and she wasn't as 'cool' as us for not gaming.
