Saying “hey” and expecting a hey back is a bad way to start a conversation. It basically nothing even if she says hi back and forced you to say another thing which renders the initial hey pointless.

I get that you think that if she says hey you can then continue the conversation by asking a question and then she responds giving you more to work with…

But what needs up happening is that she is giving enough to be polite, but not enough to truly engage with you since she is still waiting for you to say what you want.

You are beating around the bush, and the conversation feels dull. You are trying to get her to respond as if she were face to face and the thing is she is doing other shit other than texting you so she is never going to prioritise spending time chatting in real time with you.

You need to say what the actual thing that you want straight away, skip the hey, don’t expect her to drop everything to interact with you in real time responding fast because that won’t happen and get to the point.

Even if you want to talk first you need to be fun or give her something interesting worth responding to, not saying hi.

Say a joke, make a humorous comment, (realise that adding “hahas” or “laughing emojis” next to a dull comment, doesn’t make the dull comment suddenly humorous or fun.

What is she supposed to do with “hey” other than simply saying “hey”? What are you responding then after hi? a “how are you?” and then she says “good and you!” So you say “good, haha, long time no see”?…

And the entire conversation dies because she takes ages to reply because she has no reason to prioritise you since your texts aren’t making her feel anything exciting at all, and she has had this type of dull conversation with so many other guys that she already can see it coming how boring it is going to get….

A conversation in texts is not supposed to be a formal conversation with this type of generic intros as if you were face to face. You need to either get to the point or make an impact that makes her feeling immense genuine laughter right away without any introductions without any set ups or make her feel intrigue, curiosity, or even anger if necessary as long as she feels something strong which is better than not feeling anything at all.
