I think many hot girls use tinder just as some sort of approval and are not really interested in dating anyone.

Because Tinder requires a lot less investment that OkC. I'd also venture to guess a lot of girls feel better about being on Tinder than a "dating" website. You also have the girls that installed it, swiped through a few guys, and never log into it again.

Because tinder is 99% based on physical attraction (looks). This means that it is going to draw more to people who are fine with being judged solely upon appearance (hot people)

Here in my area It's different. Tinder has the hot girls, OkCupid is basically a desert with a few bisexual feminazis. And badoo. Well, badoo is basically the ghetto and everything you would associate with a girl from there.

i believe it comes down to the fact that tinder prompts you with pictures, while on okcupid, you search static profiles.

Heh, it looks like we're all coming to the same logical conclusions. I'm glad we finally addressed it, I'd like to get some girls opinions. Maybe we should raid GW and ask them :).

I know this is very old but I've actually found out that tinder will show your card more if you it deems you attractive. I think they do this either to encourage attractive people to use it/discourage unattractive people and also to get people excited at all the attractive girls when they first use the app.

I'm late to the party here, but the way Tinder got popular is that its creators sponsored huge college parties and made sure all the hot girls were there. They had to download the app to get into the party. Well once the hot girls at colleges were on there, everyone else began to sign up as well. However, to this day there are still a majority of popular college girls on the app.
