A little backstory about me: 6'1" 150 lb 21 year old Asian guy living near Seattle. Always had trouble initiating and keeping conversations with people in general, let alone approaching girls with some intention of using some of the techniques I've read about. I've always kept to myself and am a huge computer game nerd. I've had about 5 girlfriends throughout high school and college, but I always found myself having to warm up to them, not having the confidence when first meeting them. I decided, not just for girls or more sex, that I should improve my social skills and attractiveness. I'm not normally one to judge myself, but I always felt I have some visual appeal, but not the confidence to back it up.
I'll keep the first few nights short. First night: went to a local bar, lots of college kids there. Got approached by a very awkward college guy and a much older guy (50s). Didn't really have anything to talk to them about, so I cut it short and just said I had to go. Used this night to get comfortable in a more social environment than I am used to. Keep in mind, all of these nights are solo.
Second night (Friday): decided that maybe a club would be more my style. I do not have any dance experience. I mainly just did a basic 2-step and jammed along to the music. Had a lot of fun, but found it hard to approach girls to dance. Saw an old friend from high school here and some of his girl friends were pushing each other to dance with me. Smiled at them and offered my hand, but they just giggled, so I moved on. One thing I did notice about the club I went to is that there are a lot of Asians, guys and girls, being Asian, I'm also interested in Asians, just my taste. The hot Asian girls would be flocked to throughout the night, even if they showed no interest in dancing with anyone and rejected the awkward come-from-behind grinders.
Third night (Saturday): this is where I make my first approaches. Went to the same club as the night before, and it was way packed. Still rocked my basic 2-step dance jamming along to the music. Noticed a TON more Asians compared to the night before. Probably at least half of the club was Asian. This time, I make eye contact with one of the hot Asian girls everyone was flocking to. Probably an HB9 and her friend she was dancing with an HB9 as well. So, I approach, and we start dancing just facing each other. We start mirroring some dance moves. I high five her with both hands at the end of the song. This is where I make a mistake. I don't pull her in closer to dance with me or offer my hand. I was a bit discouraged because of how she and her friend had rejected every advance from every other guy. They move somewhere else on the dance floor, but at least every time they passed by me, we would make eye contact and high five. Even though I didn't escalate on either of the two girls, this gave me some confidence that I was at least somewhat attractive to them, and the looks I got from other guys who were trying to dance with them were priceless. They didn't end up dancing with any other guys throughout the night, so that made me feel better about my approach, too. After they moved somewhere else, I had to go to the bathroom, but before I got there, an Asian girl (HB6) grabbed my hand and introduced me to her friend, also Asian (HB5). We start dancing near each other and I pull her in to dance closer, backwards and forwards. At some point, our faces are near each other, so I go in for the kiss, and we start making out. The club start closing up about an hour later and we exchange contact info.
While she wasn't the most attractive to me by my standards and I wasn't the one who really made the approach, it really gave me a confidence boost. I feel like I can aim higher next time and be successful. I do slightly regret not escalating with the two initial girls I approached, but I justify it to myself saying that they didn't dance with any other guys anyway. If you are a beginner, I highly recommend trying a club. If you're on a budget, the club I go to has free admission if you sign up online and get there before 11. Drink before you go in, and you've got a cheap night out. Huge benefit if your conversation skills aren't spectacular, you don't really have to talk too much because it's so loud. I'm assuming this works better if you are at least moderately attractive or have some dance moves, but I'm not one to judge my own appearance to you all. Next for me is to work on my conversational skills so I can make approaches outside of the club so I don't have to lose my hearing for the whole day afterwards every time I want to meet girls. If anyone has any tips, know any good spots in Seattle, or even wants to meet up, let me know!
TL;DR Complete beginner at putting myself out there and no dancing skills. Met two hot (HB9) Asian girls at the club, but didn't escalate past a few minutes of dancing. Met a few slightly less attractive Asian girls, started dancing and making out not long after.
